Frankie's - Janesville

This was not one of our Group events. So here is David and Serena's take on this Supper Club!

David and I found ourselves in Janesville saturday afternoon about dinner time. David looked up supper clubs in the area so we went to check out Frankie's in downtown Janesville.
This is a fairly new establishment, so it didn't have the old supper club feel.

We decided to order a drink first to decide if we wanted to stay for dinner or not.  For the first time on our tours, the bartender asked what label of Brandy I wanted in my Brandy Old Fashioned Sweet. He also asked David what label of Whiskey he wanted in his Whiskey Old Fashioned Sour.  (Of course I paid extra for Korbel.) He proceeded to muddle our drinks which made them perfect.

We were the only ones in the restaurant at the time.  They have been open for 4 years.  The decor is based on the Rat Pak in Vegas.  Pictures on the wall and music playing all set the mood.

The menu was not huge, but they had prime rib on special for a Saturday night.  They have fish fry on Wednesday and Friday.  With your meal you get the entree, a starch (potato), salad, soup, a vegetable, and of course bread. All were included in the price, and the prices were very reasonable.  I had a twice baked potato.  It was the best potato I'd ever had.  They didn't serve it on the potato skins, and I'm not sure what they had on top, but it was fantastic.  The French onion soup was not baked, but it was great.  David's love of beer cheese soup didn't go unrewarded.

It did not score well according to our criteria.

1. Prime Rib specials are served every Saturday night.
Yes

2. A relish tray is served.
No

3. Manhattans and Old-Fashioned cocktails are served with Brandy.
Absolutely (Korbel)

4. Jell-O is served as a salad option.
No

5. Walleye is a regular menu item.
Yes, pan fried in butter.

6. All-you-can-eat fried fish on Friday nights.
Yes.  (Also on Wednesday nights)

7. Grasshopper and Pink Cadillac cocktails are large enough to share.
We were stuffed, didn't have room.

8. Christmas lights are strung along structures year-round.
No

9. The Waitresses call you "Hon"
No.  She was like 22.

10. The club has a scenic view of our beautiful state.
No, but it is in an old long and narrow building in downtown Janesville.

The score for Frankie's is 4 out of 10.  But we'd go back again.

Until September 16th, Bye for now.
