We visited Casino, right outside Columbus, WI. The establishment started off in the mid-1930s as a roadhouse and dance hall. In the late 1940s, the menu was created and expanded. Legend has it that the name Casino was inspired by the card games once held in a back room.
The regular menu includes lasagna, ribs, steaks, seafood, and sandwiches. But the their features are what highlight their menu. There is an all-you-can-eat Bountiful Buffet on Wednesdays, and a Seafood Buffet with limited menu on Fridays. The typical seafood buffet includes fried cod, baked cod, mock crab, popcorn shrimp, and broasted chicken - plus potato options, soup, salad, breads, cheese, and crackers. Saturday night is prime rib and shrimp or lobster chunks. Sunday is all-you-can-eat broasted chicken.
This month our group included Skyler, Serena, Ruth, Joa, David, Rich, Megan, and Laurie.
We met in the bar, of course. Had old-fashioneds and popcorn while we waited for the whole group to arrive.
Now it's time for the food, of course. I mean, that's really the main reason we're all congregating. We had a diverse group that ordered a little more than just prime rib and steak. There were bread baskets and a soup and salad bar that came with our meals.

I had the prime rib, and it was nothing special. Pretty much just a slab of meat on a plate. I've had better, I've had worse. The cheesy potatoes were not good. It had bread crumbs and cheese baked in. But it seemed more like shredded cheese was just melted on to re-heated mashed potatoes. I didn't care for it.
Serena didn't care for her prime rib or potatoes either. Her piece had a lot of fat, which is never satisfying. David didn't care for his mushrooms. But Richard liked his cheesy potatoes.
The salad bar was small. The only vegetable topping was cucumbers. There was also pasta salads, jello, and cheese spread. The soup was good though. I had to go up 3 times because the plates were so small (appetizer plates at a salad bar?)
The Grasshoppers weren't very good either. The ice cream was completely melted. So it was just liquid. Not to mention, they were super small.
The food was pretty much just basic. And the establishment was easily forgettable. Wasn't impressed. So let's run it through our check list:
1. Prime Rib specials are served every Saturday night.
Yes
2. A relish tray is served.
No
3. Manhattans and Old-Fashioned cocktails are served with Brandy.
Yes
4. Jell-O is served as a salad option.
Yes
5. Walleye is a regular menu item.
No, Walleye was not on their menu at all
6. All-you-can-eat fried fish on Friday nights.
Yes
7. Grasshopper and Pink Cadillac cocktails are large enough to share.
No
8. Christmas lights are strung along structures year-round.
The group actually had a debate about this. There were red rope lights in an embedded ceiling structure. I didn't think this counted, but I got out-voted. So yes, they did have this.
.
9. The Waitresses call you "Hon"
Yes, I did here this at one point.
10. The club has a scenic view of our beautiful state.
No. Just farm fields surrounding it.
That's 6 out of 10 for Casino Supper Club. Pretty middle of the road and plain. I wouldn't recommend going out of your way to visit. I'm sure it's fine for locals who have no where else to go.
Hey Kristin, have you ever tried Esquire Club on Northport? Great food.
